We’ve Moved…Twice!

While graduate students were busy writing dissertations or studying for comprehensive exams, the GradCenter was busy too – moving!

After enjoying a home at Augustana College for over 40 years, the need for greater space and growth at Augustana caused the GradCenter to consider new locations. The result is now a presence on both sides of the river.

The GradCenter now has two locations – one Iowa location affiliated with St. Ambrose University at NewVentures in downtown Davenport, and a second location in Illinois through Western Illinois University. The Illinois office is currently located at Western's 60th Street/John Deere Road location and will be part of Phase II of the newly developing Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Riverfront Campus.

“Graduate education has a rich history in the Quad Cities and we are most pleased to extend academic excellence and educational opportunities to residents within and commuters to the Quad Cities region,” said Dr. Joe Rives, WIU’s Vice President of Quad Cities, Planning and Technology.

Seconds Sr. Joan Lescinski, CSJ, president of St. Ambrose, “We are pleased to offer this support for the Quad Cities Graduate Study Center, an important Quad Cities resource. “These will be convenient locations for working professionals who wish to access the GradCenter, and this educational collaboration is in keeping with our institutional mission.”

As an outcome of the dual locations, the GradCenter hopes to provide better resources for businesses and organizations in the Quad Cities area who have employees wishing to further their career development through higher education. “The GradCenter provides key professional development resources and higher education opportunities to companies and employees of businesses located in both Illinois and Iowa,” said Tara Barney, Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer. “Convenient access to options for pursuing advanced degrees helps build and retain our workforce.”
